What happens when experience, creativity and environmental action cross Mediterranean borders? 🌍♻️
This summer, ESAI EN ROI is welcomed Adel Heshmat Tawfik from Egypt to Thessaloniki as part of our cooperation under the Anna Lindh Foundation – Creativity in Action framework.
Adel brought with him extensive experience in youth empowerment, capacity building, community development, human rights, entrepreneurship and environmental action, including work with young people, civil society organisations and international development initiatives.
His visit is connected to “MADmax – Make Art from Discards”, our initiative exploring how creativity can help young people rethink waste, consumption and our relationship with the environment.

♻️ From waste to possibility
During his time in Thessaloniki, Adel will contribute to the development and delivery of activities around Circular Thinking & Creative Reuse, sharing knowledge and perspectives from Egypt while engaging with the ESAI EN ROI team and young volunteers.
The mobility is created opportunities to explore:
🌱 Circular economy and responsible consumption🎨 Creative reuse of discarded materials🌍 Environmental challenges across the Mediterranean💡 Community-based environmental action🤝 Intercultural learning and youth engagement

With his background as a trainer and development practitioner, Adel also will bring a strong focus on learning by doing, dialogue and community participation — approaches that closely connect with ESAI EN ROI's own methodology.
🇪🇬🤝🇬🇷 One Mediterranean, many perspectives
One of the most valuable elements of the mobility isthe exchange between Egyptian and Greek experiences.
Although communities may face different realities, challenges such as waste, environmental awareness, sustainable development and youth participation are shared across the Mediterranean.
The visit offers a space to look at these challenges from different perspectives — and, more importantly, to explore how creativity and cooperation can turn common challenges into collective action.
From discussions and workshops to exploring Thessaloniki and connecting environmental issues with artistic expression, the mobility is a reminder that learning does not stop at borders.
Sometimes, a new perspective is all it takes to see waste differently. ♻️✨
We are grateful to Adel for bringing his experience, ideas and energy to Thessaloniki and for contributing to the Creativity in Action journey.

🇪🇬 Egypt meets Greece.🎨 Creativity meets environmental action.♻️ Waste becomes a resource.🌊 And the Mediterranean becomes a space for cooperation.
This is what international cooperation looks like when ideas move, people connect and creativity becomes a tool for change.
