Assiut Meets Thessaloniki: A New Framework for Cooperation 🇪🇬🤝🇬🇷

A visit, a shared experience, and a vision for what comes next.

ESAI EN ROI and KOI ELNAS from Assiut, Egypt have completed a new stage of cooperation, bringing together a short study visit, training, project supervision and strategic discussions around future joint action.

The cooperation included a study visit to ESAI EN ROI by the President of KOI ELNAS, providing an opportunity to exchange experiences, understand each organisation’s work and explore areas of common interest.

During the mobility, Adel Tawfeak, representing KOI ELNAS, also contributed through a training course and supported the implementation and supervision of activities connected with the MADMAX – Make Art from Discards campaign.

The two organisations reviewed the strengths, impact and continuity of MADMAX, discussing how the experience could be further supported and, importantly, how elements of the campaign could potentially be adapted and replicated in Assiut, taking into account the local context and needs.

🌱 Looking beyond one campaign

The cooperation naturally opened a wider conversation.

While MADMAX provided an important starting point, the discussions identified broader areas where ESAI EN ROI and KOI ELNAS can work together, including:

• 🌱 Ecology and environmental action

• 🎨 Arts, creativity and cultural initiatives

• 🌍 Mediterranean cooperation and intercultural exchange

• 👩 Women’s equality and empowerment

• 🧑‍🤝‍🧑 Youth development and participation

• 💼 Employability and skills development

The cooperation was therefore not limited to the current campaign. It became an opportunity to build a broader framework for future initiatives, combining the experience, networks and local knowledge of both organisations.

The process concluded with the signing of a Protocol of Cooperation and Mutual Interest, establishing a foundation for continued dialogue, joint initiatives and future co-creation between Assiut and Thessaloniki.

From one project came a wider vision.From one visit came a new cooperation framework.And from Assiut to Thessaloniki, the next chapter is already beginning. 🇪🇬🤝🇬🇷✨
